The Diversity and Inclusive Teaching (DIT) Seminar is currently accepting applications for its Fall 2023 offering. Please click here to apply by September 29, 2023 for full consideration.  

DIT is co-developed by the Center for Research on Learning and Teaching (CRLT) and The Program on Intergroup Relations (IGR), with support from Rackham Graduate School. In this highly interactive, five-week (2-hour via Zoom) seminar, participants from a wide range of disciplines will have the opportunity to learn about and practice a variety of inclusive and equity-focused instructional strategies for use in U-M's classrooms. 

Seminar Topics

• Frameworks for inclusive teaching and learning

• Centering instructor and student identity in the classroom

• Building trust and community with and among learners

• Facilitating dialogues and managing conflict in the classroom

• Exploring opportunities to advance DEI beyond the classroom

Dates

October 24, October 31, November 7, November 14, and November 21 from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time

Eligibility and selection criteria

Preference is given to applicants who:

• are graduate students (postdocs are welcome to apply)

• will be graduating within the following calendar year

• have previous teaching experience

• have some foundational knowledge related to social identities, diversity, and inclusive teaching (e.g., attended previous workshops on inclusive teaching), and

• are available and committed to attending all 5 sessions
