The Promises and Pitfalls of Student Presentations

Student presentations, both individually and as teams, are a common feature of university courses and can create valuable opportunities for students to contribute to a course and demonstrate their learning. But they pose challenges for students and instructors. This interactive synchronous session gives us a chance to “unpack” student presentation assignments: Why use them? How can they be structured to promote student learning? What considerations are important if you are using group presentations? How can you effectively evaluate this type of assignment? This workshop is particularly valuable to those who have already incorporated student presentations into their courses or who plan to do so in an upcoming course.
